4 Quick Hairstyles to Fix a Bad Hair Day

$

You wake up late for office and you realize that you're hair is in a big mess. May be due to an excessively oily scalp or just what your pillow did to your strands overnight, such hair is very difficult to tame in such little time. Especially with the wedding season and festivities around the corner, undone hair is a big no no.

But the good news is that you can make any bad hair day good with the help of these super quick and super easy up-do's.

1. Make a fish wish
Fish-tail braids look super chic on Indian beauties, especially for the festive season perfectly complementing Indian and western attires. You can simply flatten your hair so that it looks even and not greasy and braid fish-style towards one side.
Quick tip- Use shimmer bobby pins to keep the hair in place and accentuate the look side-by-side.

 2. Bangs with a twist
Usually, it's the front bangs which tend to get oily quickly. To make them look just washed, lightly tease the bangs with a teasing comb and start to twist it till the back of your ear. Once done, secure it with bobby pins and lightly loosen them up to give it a more relaxed look.
Quick Tip- You could substitute braiding with twisting as it looks very feminine.

3. Top Knot
A bun on the top can be a life-savor for oily tresses. No backcombing, no lifts! Tightly grip your hair a little below the crown and make sure there are no bumps or overlapping. Secure it with a hair-tie and twist the hair to form a bun. This look can be worn to work or weddings.
Quick Tip- People having a broader frame could also skip the bun and just let the hair loose in a ponytail.

4.  Side-Swept Ponytail
Perfect for office wear, a side swept ponytail can look formal and glamorous. Make a loose ponytail and make a loop right above the hair-tie. Now, let the entire ponytail cross that loop, tighten it and you're done.
Quick Tip- You can repeat the same step several times to give it a braided pony look.

Ever since I started using makeup, I have been the biggest fan of MAC cosmetics. I swear by MAC foundation, studio fix + powder, blush on, eye makeup and so much more. I am always very happy to see fashion embrace makeup and use it season after season. Bollywood smokey eyes for one have been the most seemingly difficult nut to crack but with MAC cosmetics, you will find all your answers. They are celebrating 35+ years of Mickey Contractor in Bollywood with a video on the Iconic Bollywood Smoky Eye, now how cool is that?! But before you take a look at that b'ful video, here's my take on the Mickey Contractor inspired smokey eyes with some gypsy vibes.

Is there ever a season when smokey eyes aren’t in style? This has to be one of the most genius Bollywood eye looks ever created.

Bake your face for perfect makeup

The baking technique is new to the makeup world but is a technique every makeup addict is loving. Be it professional makeup artists or amateurs, using the baking technique is quite easy and for the kind of crease-less and flawless highlight it gives to the high points of the face, especially the under-eye is totally gorgeous.

Since contouring and highlighting are becoming a part of the everyday makeup routine of we Indian desi girls, the baking technique is also sure to stay. Baking doesn't require any new tools or brushes, just a loose powder and damp sponge and you're done.

So ladies, make your contours look professional by baking your way to a perfect looking face.

4 festive hairstyles for the Short haired Diva

$

For us Indian girls, weddings and festivities are all about getting dolled up wearing beautiful blingy ethnic or indo-western outfits. But usually, with such outfits braids and buns complement the best. Well, then what about those bob-cut Indian fashionistas?
We have 4 quick fix hairstyles which are so desi and yet so trendy to give your look an ethnic glam.

Braid it up
Since your hair are short on the back, they can be left loose. This hairstyle has a lot to do with your side/front bangs. Simply braid the bangs like a regular french braid and keep repeating till the end of the ear. Once there, just secure it with bobby pins/tic tac clips.
Quick Tip- If you are not comfortable with a french braid, you can also resort to the regular braid.

Twist it French
A french twisted bun doesn't require a lot of hair and is easy to achieve. This hair-do is perfect for Diwali and goeswell with your wedding suits and sarees.
Quick Tip- If your hair are layered and strands tend to stick out, use some flowers on the side where you have secured it.

The Corporate Look
Its sexy, defined and edgy and surely requires a lot of back-combing. Just backcomb the front till the crown and tie the hair into a small bun below the crown. Secure it with hairspray so that bangs and layered hair do not mess the look up.
Quick Tip- If your hair are too short to be tied in a bun, simply make a small ponytail.

Do the Donut
Donuts are easily available in beauty stores and others like Forever 21. You could also make a donut at home with a clean sock. For short length tresses, just make a ponytail and instead of holding the donut on the tip, hold near the hair-tie. By flipping your head over, let the hair fall on the donut and once the hair cover it all, secure it with another hair-tie. For the little hair peeking out, let U-pins work their way.
Quick Tip- You could also give it a more casual look by leaving some hair sticking out.

Your Guide to Flushed Cheeks for the wedding season

$

Rosy, flushed cheeks not only look pretty but also give the face a very healthy look. Blushing cheeks add a glow to the face which completes any look be it ethnic or western. This wedding season, abide by these simple tips and techniques and use your blush the right away to achieve flushes, pinky cheeks.

  • Always choose the right shade of the blush complementing your skin tone. Where light pinks go best with fairer tones, peaches for the normal ones, bright reds are a hit among dusky beauties.
  • Never use your fingers to apply your blush instead opt for a soft, fluffy blush brush.

  • Avoid patting the powder on as it looks too overdone. Just go over the cheeks with 2-3 easy strokes and you're done.
  • Using your blush as your contour powder could look very unappealing. Apply the blush only on the apples of your cheeks and never in the hollows.

  • For a day-look, go light on the blush or cheek stain.

  • If you feel you have applied more than the required powder, a dab of wet sponge with some loose powder of your tone could work just right.

In conversation with Ambika Anand, Band Baja Bride Season 6

An Indian Tv anchor. Editor in chief, fashion at NDTV GoodTimes, the lifestyle channel of NDTV, Ambika Anand, known for hosting her current show Band Baja Bride with Sabyasachi along with Bharat Arora. She has also hosted various other shows like Get the Look, The Big Fat Indian Wedding, I'm Too Sexy For My Shoes to name a few.

Born in Delhi, this TV anchor has made her way to the the various seasons of NDTV GoodTimes' most watched show, Band Baja Bride with Sabyasachi show. Although she skipped season 5 but has returned for the their current ongoing season 6. Team Guilty Bytes had the privilege to interview Ambika Anand when she was in town for the shooting of one of the episodes of BBB season 6. Here's a brief interview with the lady herself!

How does it feel to be back on the show?
I love this show! The team is so wonderful. The director, Sabyasachi, Bharat, the make up artist, I mean its like like coming back to your family. So its really very special and nice.

Having a business background and currently doing lifestyle shows, what do you find better, business or fashion?
To be honest, I love fashion and I constantly read about it. I know what we do on Indian television is restricted but I do read a lot about fashion. I love fashion as a subject, I find it very interesting how it functions globally. In terms of business, I love business, eventually that's where I will go back.

Wedding involves two people. Any particular reason why the focus is only on the bride? (Band Baja Bride)

Basically it is the hard truth of life  that in weddings, women are more appealing than men. There's more you can do with a woman than a man, It's a very sexist, a male driven one to be clear, the only place where we women get preference is when it comes to fashion and clothes. There's so much to look forward to in grooming the bride, so many accessories, lehenga, bandgala, maang tikka, kalire, choora, etc. Men on the other hand are generally limited to turban and facial hair.

Who are your personal favorite wedding designers, except Sabya of course!!

I have a huge crush on Anamika Khanna. Like I am obsessed with her. I also love the silhouettes by Shantanu and Nikhil. They are very interesting and form flattering. Currently these two are my hot favorites.

Coming back on the show, What's different about this season?

Apart from the makeovers to the bride and groom, we're travelling this season to lesser known places like Guwahti and explore their marriage traditions. touching upon the local culture.

A message for the brides and grooms to be!

Go crazy! Go spend on your wedding and not all of it (giggles) save for the future as well. A wedding is something you celebrate throughout your life and not just those three days. It's a life long journey.

The expert herself has let the cat out of the bag, ladies. Gear up for your wedding and have the time of your life. You wedding is your day, make the most of it!! All the attention is going to be on you, people are going to watch you, make it worth their while!!

Deepika Padukone is a Bollywood Diva and we all agree with this. Recently she was spotted for Tamasha promotions in two outfits. And in both the outfits she brought in complete desi swag in her own way.

In the anarkali by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla she complemented her look with kohl-rimmed eyes, a pair of embellished jootis which she accessorize with chandbaalis. And she looked ravishing in this ensemble.

In second look she opted for Payal Jain anarkali dress which she paired with denim jackets, with a pair of sneakers. The chic look was so perfect.

We loved her look in anarkali dress with Denim jacket. Which look do you like the most? Share our views with us.
