World Renowned Musician Fatoumata Diawara's Performance Captivates Music Lovers In Delhi

The inaugural Delhi chapter, part of a five city music tour, had guests immersed in the passion of Malian world music star Fatoumata Diawara.The internationally acclaimed Fatoumata had the audience in raptures. Accompanied by a smoking live band, Fatoumata mesmerized the audience with her high-energy jazz and funk flowing into joyous and sensual folk-rock, inflected with the rhythms and melodies of her native Wassoulou, the historic region in southwest Mali. Her radiant voice and infectious Afro-pop mixed the expansive and the understated. With this first-of-its-kind world music performance,audiences received a double delight with home grown talent, Barmer Boys performing on the very same stage. The iridescent combination of Rajasthani folk and sufi soul served as the perfect precursor.


The evening also featured a charity auction from Blackberrys spectacular AW '14 collection - the proceeds of which will be used to nurture Indian traditional music schools, by providing scholarships for deserving students and funds for material support

1. The most aggressive University elections are more important than MLA, MC elections. SOPU, PUSU bruuaaaah.

{PHOTO BLOG} A Moroccan Afternoon with Livon

Very rarely you come across events that can sweep you off your feet, one such event was organised by Livon on a not so cold winter afternoon at Delhi. And all the bloggers were asked to leave their messages on the argan tree about their day! Absolutely loved the concept. 
It was a beautiful setup with pink and gold being the colours of the day. The decor as you must have noticed in the photos was absolutely breathtaking. Livon has taken a bold step by bringing Morocco's Argan oil to India but this kind of launch was indeed impressive. From an open salon to Argan message tree, the event had it all. And of-course it was great catching up with some of the best fashion and beauty bloggers in the city.  We also had a DIY hair session with a celebratory hair stylist who help us tackle our frizzy hair with Livon followed by a cute Moroccan hair tutorial. It was an evening to remember and yes Livon and it's communications agency has set a benchmark for all the other brands when it comes to blogger engagement activations!

How much I love taking up new challenges, but before that I have got to apologize to you guys for not updating blog as usual. I had been very busy with exams, yeah I am pursuing my second masters degree so that I can call myself OVERQUALIFIED someday :p. Back to the challenge, I created a BRIDAL look at home. It's a super cool makeup tutorial, that you will love creating and yes you will get to meet my mama bear in the video too! 

So I wore my sisters wedding lehenga (yup) and I did a makeup tutorial that you wuld love to try, at-least the eyes. Go ahead watch the video and get some tips for your big dayyyy and yes say hi to mommy bear!

REVIEW: KORUM SALON, GK I

Very rarely you come across a salon that isn't trying too hard to market their products and yet deliver the best service possible! In a busy market of Greater Kailash, New Delhi I wonder how I missed visiting this salon that has floored me so much that I have actually visited it twice already post my review! On the blog today, I have detailed review of Korum Salon located in GK part I.


My review started with a facial that was called the Dermalogica Facial. This was my first time with Dermalogica products and I have to admit that the service provided by this salon's Dermalogica facial expert- Natasha Peter was indeed commendable.



In a hectic lifestyle, I have suffered open pores, tanning and sensitive spots but Natasha was very positive about my skin and insisted on doing a power active treatment to repair my skin. The facial lasted for about 30-40 mins and it included exfoliation, pre cleanse, clearing gel, pack, steam towel and moisturizing. The dermalogica products are simple, clean and clinical. These products melt very nicely onto the skin and are free from artificial fragrance or colors. The way my skin feels as a result is as though it's better looked after. Although I don't feel my skin breakouts would be 'cured'– it would be better managed and less noticeable. Definitely recommended.

PRICE: INR 3,500

After skin repair, I indulged in a manicure and pedicure session featuring Kiana products.



So Korum offers three kinds of mani-pedi sessions of which Kiana is the topmost service. The therapist are very good at their job and will leave you feeling rejuvenated! Oh and my favorite part was selecting a nail paint from the O.P.I nail shades, yes they house O.P.I.

PRICE: INR 1,800 (Both Mani + Pedi)

For my hair, I was supposed to take a L’oreal Mythic oil hair spa which was changed to a ritual spa because the the salon specialist told me that my hair quality was very good but the roots or rather cuticle needed special attention in order to avoid hair-fall.

So instead of doing any treatment that involved too much of intense oiling or anything, we opted for the ritual spa. The spa was followed by hair cut and styling. 

PRICE: INR 2,500

I am sure most of you know how much I love my long tresses so as usual I didn't allow the stylist to cut my hair but after months of not doing much...I got fringes cut! I love how my new hair looks like, here's a little sneak peek.

I am fairly very impressed with the services at Korum salon and If you are living in Delhi then you have to visit this place for some pampering. It's located in the heart of GK 'M' block market, right above the CCD. They also offer services like bridal packages, body polishing, party and bridal makeup and nail art.

Aishwarya Rai Honoured at Miss World 2014, Becomes Most Successful Beauty Queen

Aishwarya took to stage dazzling (literally) in a silver Roberto Cavalli gown at the Miss World 2014. She carried BOLD red lips like no body else.  The beauty was felicitated by the Miss World Organisation at the 64th edition of the international beauty pageant for her commitment to "beauty with a purpose" since winning the crown two decades ago.

Aishwarya is also seen as the most successful Miss World so far, a title that she won in 1994. "I stand here overwhelmed by this honour. I thank Miss World Organization for such an incredible honour that I have received..." she said in her acceptance speech. The 41 year old beauty looked so much fitter and so much better than many contestants out there. She not only made her mother, husband or daughter proud (who accompanied her) but got INDIA to the center-stage all over again.  

Remember the story I did on her lipstick trends, well she rightfully deserved to be written! Just look at that look, that perfect hair, that makeup and those bold lips, ABSOLUTEELLLYY GLAM! India's Koyal Rana made it to the top 10 and also won the title of Beauty with a purpose.

Back to the review, if you have always complained of oily skin especially during winters and have struggled to find a perfect moisturizer for your skin, then Za perfect solution moisturizer could just be your calling. The texture of lotion is extremely easy to work with and sinks in very well. It feels like a light gel that gets absorbed but it takes a little while for the same. It leaves my skin feeling moisturized and takes care of the dry areas around my nose and lips during winters. It re-hydrates the skin to prevent fine lines and roughness caused by dryness. I also use it as a perfect base for my makeup and strongly recommend that you should try it for your makeup as well. The moisturizing gel doesn't feel greasy and is a lot different from regular moisturizers that you generally apply. It has a light smell that isn't overwhelming at any rate. Guilty Bytes: The Business of Blogging, Highlights of 2014

So while I am writing this post, there are more than 100 odd things running in my head right now that I don't want to miss out on maybe because 2014 has been one of the best years of my life and I really want to capture it all today. I just realized, that I ended up starting my today's post with 'so', and that my first sentence was way too long without any 'full stops'. I never do that, but this is how a nervous yet an excited Miss Guilty sounds like! New projects, new team, new awards, I did it all this year. Before I move on to how's of the same, this post may just be the last outfit of the day post of this year.

I started this year with a new look for the blog. I referred to all YouTube tutorials because I didn't want to move from blogger to WordPress. I don't come from a coding background, but I managed to code guiltybytes over a set template. The key learning is that you can become a techie if you search for relevant content with right set of keywords.

I developed a content strategy that worked for me. As cliched as it may sound, I began writing about all the things on my blog that influence me & my personality. Be it Bollywood gossips, celeb fashion, restaurant reviews, I am doing it all because I enjoy writing on these subjects as much as I enjoy writing on fashion/beauty. A content plan will help you increase blog traffic and then you can compare your posts and see what worked, what didn't. My key learning here is that you don't have to stereotype your own self. You are still very much a fashion blogger if you write on yoga or food sometimes!

I started saying NO to sponsored giveaways and small time contests in exchange of cross promotions. I know many of my readers may hate this, but I turned down many "great" giveaways and instead opted for self sponsored giveaways for my blog. Please note that there is no arrogance here, I just felt that a constant brand promotion needed to have commercial costing with it. My key learning here was simple, I did a self sponsored giveaway that generated great impressions and engagement for the platform of my choice.

I started saying YES to organic collaborations with brands to maintain my blog's credibility. While I have been doing paid campaigns with brands, I ensured that my blog content doesn't become marketing lead in 2014. I micro-blog from events because I enjoy doing that. There are times when I am introducing products and brands on my blog and It's a 100% experiential activity that doesn't involve any commercials. My key leaning here is that in the long run, marketing activities can put my blog's credibility at stake, hence it's important to generate exciting content all through out even if it involves featuring brands for free.

I fulfilled my dream of becoming a motivational speaker! I was invited by Pearl Academy of Fashion, a prestigious design school to share my journey on blogging and how anyone can make a career out of it. While I still consider myself to be an amateur blogger primarily because I have a day job in digital marketing, my key learning here is that amazing things happen when you get honest with yourself and start doing what makes you happy.

I found friends in Mumbai and got them on board that lead me to create #TeamGuiltybytes. We now have a contributor from America as well that makes us global :D. It is important to work with people who understand your aspirations really well and as a blogger you can expand your reach with stories coming from different regions of the world. You could have college students on board as interns to do trend-spotting for you that will help you pitch in story ideas or you could have freelance home based writers contributing their stories on your blog. My key learning here is that you have got to invest- in people, time and efforts.

Elle beauty award 2014 happened to me. Words can't even describe how it escalated my blogging process. I have to thank my friends, family and my readers for being part of that never ending voting process. The only key learning here is that an award like this makes me all the more responsible as a blogger and that I will continue to entertain you guys with my writings!

My YouTube channel rolled in and I am still experimenting with it! I know the photography business but the videos have some issue. The video cam adds 5 extra kilos on me (no exceptions here) and while I am not a pro on cam, I think this is one of the most challenging areas in my blogging world. The videos require prep time, shoot essentials, scripts,  story board, locations, ideas, and so much more. Key learning, don't say no to opportunities and it's okay to challenge yourself. Just know you are not alone. (since I am struggling with it currently :P)

Respect PRs, we need them as much as they need us. Always remember, they only represent a brand and I know sometimes they can be really unrealistic but you have got to work your way out with them. Key learning here is that you should share your media plans with a focused strategy as they will be able to put across your points in-front of their clients, only if they are convinced enough.

Online Reputation Management. I have faced not-so hate comments every now and then but deleting those comments may not be the only solution since you are a lot like a brand now! As an almost public figure try to neutralize those negative comments with positive replies. Key learning here is that you should convert the sentiment to your stride or use these remarks to your strength to garner added support from people who love you! (Bearyy hug for my supporters)

Paychecks with my blog! It happened to me in 2014 with google ads finally doing the shubh start. When I work with brands, I develop a media plan depending on the set of deliverables they are looking at. You can't simply say that you will charge XX amount for a campaign. Walk an extra mile, study the campaign, re-read the emails from PRs and then develop a promotional plan with key deliverables. Key leaning is to sound like a through professional and know your business right, always.

Tricks To Add Volume To Any Hair This Party Season

New year parties are around the corner and it's important to have everything in place staring from dress, to makeup to accessories to your hair. To get a beautiful volume is every girl's dream and in today's post I am spilling some of my secrets on how to get voluminous hair.


#1 Prep Your Hair Roots
Your hair volume has got a lot to do with your hair roots. Cleanse your scalp well at the roots with a shampoo and massage it for at-least 5-10 minutes to stimulate the root and the hair on the day of the party. 

#2 Pin Up Hot Rollers
The best volume is achieved with hot rollers. If your curl is big, you will get bigger volume. Set the hair in stand-up pin curls and use a hair spray to achieve perfect look!

#3 Natural Bounce
Tie a high bun or a pony tail, be sure that it's not too loose. Let the hair be like that for at least 3-4 hour before the party starts and when you open it, you will get wavy hair with a lot of natural bounce. 

#4 Change Your Parting
Create a volume at the roots by changing your hair parting! This takes time but will work in the long run as switching parting to opposite direction goes against hair's natural growth. 

#5 Use Bobby Pins
Wear a puff at home, few hours before the party night and clip it up with bobby pins without using any hair sprays. Open the puff and you will end up getting a perfect volume. Here is a trick; leave your bangs out of the puff and then you will get a retro volume!

It's Christmas time!!!!! AND here I am with a super yummy, super easy, egg less brownie recipe from my food lab! The prep time is about 12 minutes and the baking time is about 6 minutes only. You can add walnuts, choco chips, raisins, berries or anything that you like. It's chocolaty, gooey, egg less and yummy to the T.


If the above image is not enough to make you drool through your screens then take a look at the super yummy batter I made. It's full of chocolate, full of walnuts and full of yumminess :D Lazy bakers, you have got to give this brownie a shot and surprise your loved ones with your baking (ahemm) skills. You don't have to set any baking temperature or rock your brain with time or preparation, just microwave the batter in a regular mode (the same mode you warm your food in, yes that one) and ta-da, you can binge in these yummmmmmmyyyyyyy set of brownies.
