You would have often heard every one tell you that using a moisturiser on an oily skin makes it more oily and prone to breakouts, haven't you? This my dear readers is a widely held misconception. Read the full post to break the myth.
It is important to moisturise an oily skin simply because we dry it out too much. Our skin responds by producing it's natural oil, the sebum which leads to breakouts and pimples. Once you cleanse your face, you must apply a moisturiser within sixty seconds for it to penetrate well in your skin. What is more important is that you choose the coorect product depending on your skin type. Opt for light formula products that are basically oil free as they do not clog pores.
If you skin is way too prone to acne and pimples. then look for products that have salicylic acid. Salicylic products are not very drying in nature and preserve the skin's moisture really well. Also note that the best time to moisturise your skin is after you exfoliate or bathe.
