For Dry Scalp:
1. Tea tree oil:
Tea tree oil has antifungal properties that will kill the fungi causing flakiness, remove dead skin cells on your scalp and nourish the hair. The easiest way to make the hair recipe is to add 5-6 tea tree oil in your shampoo. Else you can massage your hair with 3 tablespoons of jojoba olive and few drops of tea tree oil. The blood circulation will regenerate new skin cells and promote healthy hair shafts.
2. Garlic:
Garlic has excellent antimicrobial properties that will fix your dandruff issues. If you are worried garlic might stink your hair, then worry not we have a quick fix, mix it with honey and massage for scalp for 3 minutes. Wash it with your regular shampoo, for effective results apply this mixture twice a week.
3. Salt:
Who could think that salt could remove dandruff, but yes salt is a perfect hair scrub that will naturally remove dead skin cells, flakiness. You can mix salt with coconut oil and massage your scalp for 5 minutes. Let it rest and then wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.

Tip: if you have dry scalp stay away from sulfate shampoos, massage your hair with almond oil and nourish your hair.
For Oily Scalp:
1. Aloe vera:
Aloe vera does wonders to oily skin and oily scalp. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties that heal the scalp from impurities, germs and help in reducing the greasiness of the hair. Extract aloe vera gel from the plant and if you wish to add lemon juice to it and rub it gently on your scalp. Let the mixture stay for half an hour and then wash with cool water.
2. Apple cider vinegar:
Remove the greasiness of your hair and dandruff with the help of apple cider vinegar. The acid in apple juice will remove the greasiness and the enzymes of apple will remove the dead skin cells and the vinegar will kill bacteria, fungi that cause dandruff. Massage your scalp with apple cider vinegar or you can even mix it with your favorite oil and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.
3. Neem leaves and lemon juice:
Both the ingredients have antiseptic properties that will heal your scalp from fungi. Crush neem leaves in a blender and adds 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, cover your scalp with this paste and after 30 minutes rinse with cold water. Make sure you rinse your hair well as neem is difficult to remove.
4. Bananas:
Banana has hydrating properties that will condition your hair, as well as reduce the itching and dry scalp. Also banana removes excessive oil from your hair, decreasing the greasiness. Mash 1 ripe banana and cover your scalp, hair strands with banana. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.
Tip: if you want, you can add honey for extra moisturizer. Also, rinse your hair with lemon infused water and remove dandruff permanently from your hair.
All these DIY are effective only if you use them regularly. If you have severe dandruff, use it weekly, twice and when dandruff disappears reduce to once a week. Also eat a healthy diet filled with zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin C rich foods and stay away from chemicals that can damage your hair.
