I love eating chaats, bhel puri and dahi bhalla- I mean who doesn't?! So we decided to make bhel puri last evening only to discover that the hero ingredient "Meethi Saunth" was missing. But like always, Mommy @Guiltybytes can't be stopped from creating epic things especially when it comes to food. So this meethi saunth or the amchoor ki meethi chutney takes only 15 mins to cook and we haven't used any difficuilt ingredient thatyou won't find in a basic Indian kitchen. Among the many varieties of a meethi saunth, this is one style that any body can make by just boiling up all the ingredients together. This chutney can be enjoyed with many Indian street food delicacies and yes it comes with a long shelf life too. You can create our own varient keeping this recipe as you base. So here's what all you need to make this delicious saunth chuteny...
Ingredients
1. 1 cup Jaggery/ Gur
2. 2 Table spoon Mango Powder / Amchoor Powder
3. 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli powder / Laal mirch powder
4. 1 Teaspoon Black Salt / Kala Namak
5. 1 Teaspoon Roasted Cumin Powder / Jeera Powder
6. 1 Teaspoon Ginger Powder / Saunth
7. 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper/ Kali Mirch
8. 1.5 Cups Water
9. Salt to taste
Directions
Start by adding all the powder ingredients except for salt in 1.5 cups of warm water in pan. Mix the ingredients well and put the pan on the gas and bring it to boil. Add jaggery/ gur to the mix and finally add salt to taste. Simmer till it starts to thicken then take it off the flame. Let it cool down and add it to your chaat and your bhel when it thickens and begins to look like honey. Save the rest in a mason jar and enjoy!
