Buying new heels exclusively for a function is great but you don't want to get them dirty or worn out before the big event, so you either keep them tucked away or hardly use them. Heels can  actually be a pain and if you have to dance in them or stand/walk for long hours you might risk getting blisters and cramps and having to ditch them way before the night is through because of how badly they hurt your feet.

Don't let your heels stop you from having a good time. Try these genius hacks to make your new heels far more bearable:

#1 Use a hair dryer.
Heat of the drier can be used to soften the material of your new heels. Using a blow dryer, blast your shoes with air (make sure to move the blow dryer around to evenly distribute the air and avoid melting the material). Once the material is warmed up and more pliable, gently twist and bend the shoes in the center to break them in. Don't go overboard and bend them so far that they don't return to their natural shape, or so hard that they break.

#2 Tape your toes
To relieve some of that stress on your poor little toes, tape your third and fourth toe fingers together with some tape or a band aid. There's a nerve that splits between your toes that causes pain when you put on it. This trick only works with closed-toed heels.

#3 Use Sandpaper
New heels don't have much resistance so you might constantly be slipping around the dance floor or too smooth surfaces. Use some sandpaper and rub it against the bottom of your heels until they're noticeably rougher. This will create more resistance between your shoe and the floor, and prevent you from taking an embarrassing tumble.

#4 Stretch with Thick Socks
The simplest trick to stretch your new heels is to walk around in them while wearing thick socks. Using socks will stretch the heel to a more comfortable fit, and you would be relieved of the pain of tight new heel.

#5 Use Gel Deodorant to prevent Blisters
The blister points of your feet like the joints of your toes, the back of your heels, the top of your foot where the back edge of the shoe can rub should be rubbed with gel deodorant dried before wearing your new heels. The gel deodorant acts as an obstruction between your feet and your heels thereby preventing blisters.
