Spread over two wings an 13,500 sq feet Sabyasachi has finally arrived with his flagship store in New Delhi. It may look like a heritage monument with hand fired Portuguese tiles, antique mirrors, vintage photographs, rich carpets and more- the brand new outpost in Delhi is inspired by Old Kolkata. The designer also descried it as a, "reflection of what my home feels like." Here's what Sabya's heaven looks like from the inside...
The store is divided into two wings one of which houses women's bridal wear, jewellery by Kishandas & Co. for Sabyasachi and trunks and luggage by Trunks Company, Jaipur. Wing two houses ready to wear, sarisand kurtas with a seperate floor for menswear. The key highlights of the store include 63 pieces of art by the Sabyasachi Art Foundation, about 57 hand painted chandeliers, 732 ittar bottles and 112 antique carpets. You will find essence of India at every corner. Every corner, wall or cieling space is so minutely put together that you will find yourself loosing in the ambience in absolutely no time. This is one store where you can't explain what you see. Sabyasachi is all set to full-fill every dream and desire of the girl who lives with a head full of magical dreams. Brides, you can simply get lost in the grandeur of this whimsical store. I will lie if I said that I didn't dream of becoming a Sabya bride simply because Sabya's world is detached from the reality, where craftsmanship and art stands still like no other.
The first Sabyasachi store opens in the city at Mehrauli at haveli no 6 to 8, Kutub Serai.
