In Review: Amuse House Cafe, Ansal Plaza - The Foodie Paradise

Hi guys we are back with a yet another delectable and fun food review. Since you guys know that its me, Divya from Team Guiltybytes who does food reviews but this time Miss Guiltybytes herself accompanied me for the review of Amuse Cafe , Khel Gaon, Ansal Plaza and that turned out to be the best decision ever!

This food review is really special as our taste buds were tantalised with finger licking food. They say you eat with your eyes first and then with mouth and Amuse cafe has rightly shown that through its food. Amuse House Bistro is a mix of East European and Mediterranean flavours that offers mouthwatering dishes in a nouville fashion.
As we entered the cafe the European vibe was very evident from the simple yet elegant decor of Blue walls with the classy Chandelier along with soothing music and it very perfectly set the mood. We made ourselves comfortable and their very courteous staff brought the menu which then took us to the much awaited and fascinating food journey !

The Bread basket along with in-house different flavoured butters sets the tone for the ride ahead.

Drinks
We ordered a couple of drinks from their mocktail menu which were Orange & Elderflower Spritzer and Jalapeno Watermelon. We have to admit that we were just floored with the burst flavors it had to offer. My favourite was the Orange and Elderflower spritzer. One sip of the drink and it instantly took me back to my childhood holi celebrations. Why Holi you ask? It's fragrance and taste reminds of the Holi colors that we used to play with. It was kike HOLI in my mouth! If you know what I mean!
The Jalapeno and Watermelon drink had a nice kick to it! It was yet another enjoyable drink. We also had Fresh juices from theri menu and really like the Green Machine which was made out of Cucumber, Celery, Ginger, Honey and lime finished with Black salt. It indeed was very refreshing. I also tried a Pina Colada nothing new but its my go to drink these days and it too was made perfectly!

Starters
The First dish itself blew us away! The Manchego and Sweet corn stuffed chillies with spring onion and chipotle aioli. This superbly colorful and Vibrant looking dish is a successful contrast between Tangy & Sweet with contrasting textures. It payed utmost respect to the mexican chillies and we couldn't have asked for more.

We also had the Artichoke and Potato ragout bruschetta with shaved parmesan. This dish was fine , didn't really wow us like the others.

The Chickpea and mint Falafel , mint yogurt and chive dressing was another mouth watering mediterranean delicacy which didn't disappoint at all.

Moving on to the Non vegetarian - We had the aioli. Seafood Bunuelos fresh Green apple plum salsa and horseradish aioli. Deep fried and Seafood match made in heaven we say! There nothing to dislike about this dish it was scrumptious and yummy.

We also had the Chicken Liver pate, chicken terrine and poached hen egg another classic and yummy dish.Try this if you have the palate for cold minced liver pate.

Next we had the Pork belly with parsnip cream, pickled pear, prune puree and crisp. Just a spoonful of tender Pork belly with parsnip cream and prune puree was enough to send my palette tingling. If you love Pork this one is a must have!

Lastly we had the Crispy chicken bourak with onions, cheese, parsley and a hint of cinnamon. It’s served with a side salad and is a fantastic filo-pastry with perfect hint of cinnamon in it.

We had the most gorgeous dish which was like a painting hung at a gallery it was from their Light and Crisp - The Grilled Goat's Cheese, beetroots and Burnt Orange. We had never seen anything that looks this beautiful and delicate. I personally recommend this dish more for treat to the eyes than the palette especially if you are craving cheese. The taste stays with you even after you have finished the plate.

It was time for the main course and after the commendable starter show, we waited in anticipation for the next course to arrive. We had little clue of the myriad of flavors that were in store for us in the main course.
Main Course
From their signature dishes we tried the Classic Roast Chicken with Rosemary Baby Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables served with Chicken Au Jus - This dish had us craving for more. Juicy succulent chicken full of robust flavours and one of our favourites. We just couldn't stop at one bite! If you are really hungry and don't wish to order starters just go for this one its worth every penny , flavoursome and filling.

Once we had the Roast chicken we didn't really think there would be another dish as close to being perfect but we were so wrong!Next we had the "most amazing" Lamb chops in the entire world. The dish is called Grilled Lamb chops with spiced gremolata , served with aubergine dip. It is a nuance of flavour unlike any other. These guys at Amuse house import their lambs from Australia and rightly so the quality is visible in every mouthful.

Next we had the Herb Crusted Grilled Chicken Breast served with Salsa Verde and Brussels Sprouts - Without question, this is some of the best herb crusted chicken in Ansal Plaza. The perfect mix of super crusted skin with perfectly juicy meat.

Then came the Crispy Filo Pastry filled with minced lamb meat served with creamy yogurt- garlic dip. quite similar to the chicken counterpart we had in the starters. It is a fantastic filo-pastry that you can’t really go wrong ordering with. This meat melts in your mouth and the accompaniment of creamy garlic yoghurt just takes it up that notch. Our taste buds were now dancing in tizzy and we were in seventh heaven already!

We ended out of European & Mediterranean Food exploration with the Amuse House #MedBox - consisting of Pistachio baklava, Basbousa, Blah al sham and Finger zainab. It completed our Mediterranean journey superbly. and we also tried but couldn't finish the desert Chocolate with peanut butter. It was decadent and very heavy.

Amuse House cafe also serves a variety of Pastas and Thin crust Pizzas which we shall try next time. They get most of their ingredients imported and have kept each dish as authentic as possible. Their menu caters to vegetarian crowd as well since they understand the growing demand of Green eaters. For now we are totally under the spell cast by the Gorgeous looking and equally delightfully tasting food menu curated by Chef Bharti. This place offers Comfort food with nuance vibe and laid back feel and is the perfect to treat your taste buds or to get away from the busy and hectic life of Delhi. The good food and the stylish décor promises to find favour with Delhi’s gourmands as well. Go try it , weTOTALLY recommend it!

In Review: Burma Burma - Doing It the Burmese Way This Thingyan Festival

I had never been exposed to the Burmese cuisine nor did I ever thought of trying it. But our very own Miss Guiltybytes Devina herself had been raving about it ever since she got to review the hub of burmese food in Delhi -  Burma Burma. As luck would have it, I got a chance to try it this time owing to the Thingyan festival - The Burmese New Year. And Burma Burma totally lived upto all the hype despite it being a pure-vegetarian , no alcohol serving restaurant that too in Delhi. The Decor and the Food at Burma Burma will make even a pure non-vegetarian forget their meats. Its a discovery that one would fall in love with!Owing to the geographic location of Myanmar, Burmese cuisine has been influenced by Chinese, Indian and Thai cuisine. The cuisine is characterised by extensive use of fish products like fish sauce and ngapi (fermented seafood).

Burma Burma is celebrating Thingyan festival  - the Burmese New Year and have introduced new menu owing to the same. I was super excited to try Burmese food and boy it didn't disappoint at all. The place is small but full mostly. Once seated I noticed the tastefully done up interiors which are both colourful and quirky with authentic Burmese decor and adorable dolls of burmese natives. The new menu has limited dishes and since it was my first time I requested the manager to get few much talked about dishes from the old menu as well , I also requested him to keep the portions small so that we have minimum food wastage and can try maximum dishes.

Drinks
Since there were no drinks in the new menu I ordered few favourites from their original menu. I tried the BurmeseBlossom tea and it was amazing. The Nutella Bubble tea has Boba milk with chewy tapioca pearls. You may or may not like the taste but should surely try this unique drink. I especially loved Elderdragon- a drink comprising of coconut water , elderflower and chia seeds.

Soups/Hincho
I first tried the Kachin style dried mustard soup and the Pumpkin & basil soup from the new menu. I also ordered the much talked about Samosa soup from their original menu.Kachin soup was quite sour to my liking and it had a peculiar fermented flavour too. I liked flavours of the Pumpkin and Basin soup and imagined sipping it on a cold winter evening - so comforting. The samosa soup was tasty and had a very mild tang flavour that I really liked.

Salads/Thoke
Their salads are much talked about and surely they were all very delicious. I ordered for Grilled Mock Meat Salad and what a discovery this one was! The non-vegetarian in me was happy to have the Mock meat aka Soya chunks in the salad. The salad was fresh and yummy. I also had the Lotus Root salad which was super crunchy and again as good as the previous one. I had to order the Raw mango salad which was recommended by Devina and it was tangy and mouthwatering. The salads are one of the culinary highlights in this cuisine and I almost felt like going on an all salad diet!

Starters
Their Khowsuey is very famous and these guys have come up with this dish called Khowsuey in a bite.  Its a crispy noodle nest topped with reduced Khowsuey and finished with roasted chili. It was super yummy ,crunchy and I can assure you I had more than just one bite! Next I had the Grilled mock meat skewers which were tender, full of flavours and every mouthful was heavenly. I tried the Crispy corn tossed in tea leaf - this one also has a slight fermented taste of the tea leaf and it wasn't my favourite.  These Tea leaves are specially imported from Burma to maintain the authenticity. I just fell in love with the next starter which was Avocado with Papadum. Creamy avocado topped with chilli oil and basil it was like heaven. The creamy avocado  went so well with the crispy papadum and once you have tasted it you want it would keep going back for more.

They also serve Steamed Buns or Bao’s with various filling options. It’s sweet and savoury at the same time. Quite light and healthy due to steamed preparation. I tried the caramelised onion ones , they were amazing.

Rice & Noodles
From their rice and noodle dishes I had the Si Chet Thamin - Its Jasmine rice hand tossed with brown onion, garlic and chilli oil. I simply loved this rice dish. It was flavoursome and tasted amazing when eaten alone or paired with a curry dish. I also had the Nan Pyar Khowsuey which was a flat wheat noodle dish topped with roasted gram flour, garlic oil, paprika & crisp onions. This dish a meal in itself, yummy, flavourful and has varied textures which add even more depth to the taste of the dish.It is medium spicy noodles with all the add ons according to ones taste.

Curries & Stir-Fries
On suggestion from the staff I had the Mock duck and potato curry. What a clever idea! It seemed as if I was having a lovely Burmese duck curry and every spoonful of it with jasmine rice was divine. I also had Stir fry greens with fermented mustard and tofu. It was good but my again not my favourite. The fermented flavor settles quite differently on my palate.

Desserts
To finish of my perfect Burmese journey I ordered the Matcha ice cream from their new menu. matcha is an acquired taste and sadly for me it's not my cup of tea. Its a very strong flavour and quite in demand these days. What I loved were the  desserts from their original menu - The Smokey Avocado Honey ice cream , there is just one word for it Heavenly!teh ice cream is a must try and your meal isn't finished if you haven't ordered this. I also had Coco Pina - Burmese take on my favourite drink Pina colada. This dessert is delightful and I kept going back for another bite. Lastly I also tried their Kachin Chocolate Rainforest set with precision, the combination of dark chocolate mousse on a bed of raspberry coulis, garnished with chocolate soil and pomegranate, I would say it is absolutely mandatory to try for anybody who loves desserts and chocolates.

Overall my experience was delectable and very enjoyable. My stomach thanked me for there was no overload of spices and it was filled with the aroma of the herbs and vegetables. The aromas of lemon grass, creamy texture of coconut lingers on and makes you crave for more.If you are a Burmese food fanatic or if you have been contemplating to try Burmese food this new menu isn't to be missed!
