A lot of us don't know but cold water is amazing for our skin and hair and in general for our health. So here I am listing 3 ways in which cold showers benefit us.

    1. Cold showers are super Great For The Hair: Cold water will never dry out your hair and it even helps to close the hair cuticles that are like pores.Using a cold shower will help your hair stay smooth and shiny and healthy.

    2. Get The Youthful on Your Skin: Washing face with cold water will always keep your face looking fresh and healthy. It closes any open pores and also unclogs them with any dirt , oil . Which in turn will help you prevent breakouts and acne issues.

    3. It gives you Just The Right Amount of Lift:  When cold water hits your skin, everything constricts.Like the pores tighten and blood flows in a new direction.Your skin will feel toned and tight and firm, but not dry.

The best time to have a good nice cold shower would be mornings or afternoons and evenings!

If there is one designer who I have admired a lot, see evolve and eventually choose to wear on one of my wedding functions- then you have to know its Abhinav Mishra. Designers like him take things and art slowly to their stride. He has been doing n number of mehendi and wedding outfits for brides featuring his signature 'statement dupatta' and sitara work. Abhinav's designs are lovingly handcrafted that speak of both individuality and soul at the very same time. For my festive, #weddingbytes series- I have collaborated with Abhinav Mishra to put together the very first look which is also a fresh take on pastel lehengas and matha patti.

The stunning matha patti is from Pasileypopshop and is an ode to the new age bride that took the hair jewelry trend to the next level. I have also added a statement ring from another favourite label, Zariin jewelry. For this pastel coloured lehenga my MUA, Vandana Aggarwal envisioned bright purple coloured eyes and am glad that I let her do her job for I absolutely love the pop of color on my face. The hair has been taken care of by Senior Stylist, Nadeem from F Salon Rajouri Garden.

I love how the ambience of JW Marriott, Aerocity marries into our pastel coloured theme. In an age where wedding planning goes on for months, it's a blessing to find a luxury hotel like JW Marriott Aerocity that fetaures great accessibility and style. Do stay tuned to my #weddingbytes series as I will take your through the very stylish interiors and the sophisticated space the hotel has to offer to the bride and groom and their wedding guests. We all live with our own particular skin concerns. If your nemesis is excess shine, the best way to fight back is to nail down the ideal skincare routine. But because we are human and imperfect, we’re all prone to making mistakes. Here, the bad habits to avoid when catering to the needs of your oily complexion.

    Over-Cleansing

Harsh cleansers can disrupt the balanced state of your skin and actually cause more oil production. A gentle foaming option, twice a day, is the best way to go.

    Over-Exfoliating

The same goes for exfoliating—being too abrasive can stimulate oil production. A physical exfoliant such as an exfoliating brush, used once or twice a week, cleanses your skin without disrupting it. If using an exfoliating scrub, look for one without alcohol.

    Using Drying Toners

While toners are an essential part of any skincare routine, they can make your skin appear shinier. Look for alcohol-free toners meant to balance the skin, as opposed to powerful astringents

    Ditching Your Moisturizer

Oily skin isn't a reason to fear moisturizer—you still need a daily dose of hydration. A light moisturizer such as a gel will help you avoid that greasy feeling you get from too-rich creams and lotions.

    Skipping Primer

A primer is a great way to keep your makeup from looking shiny throughout the day. It fills your pores and creates a matte, airbrushed finish.

    Using The Wrong Foundation

Stay away from foundations marketed as luminous, dewy or radiant. These have light-reflecting particles that will intensify your shine. Opt for matte foundation, whether liquid or powder, after applying a primer.

    Avoiding Oils

A common misconception is that those with oily skin should avoid facial oils. However, plenty of these products can actually improve the condition of your skin. Many have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help keep excess oil from forming.

It’s hard to learn and write about skincare without placing the majority of your focus around anti-aging ingredients and products, but an obsession with this type of self-care can lend itself to negative connotations toward a natural process.
It is entirely possible to enjoy skincare and aim to maintain and improve your complexion without playing into the sentiment that getting older is undesirable. From here on out we aim to treat skincare like any other self-love practices, starting with the top five ways to pamper and care for your skin in your 30s.

    1. Increase Hydration

Inside and out, ladies. Topical hydration is important, but properly hydrating your internal organs will have an obvious impact on the health of your skin. In addition to taking in the appropriate amount of water each day (3 liters is considered average, but you can always calculate the amount you need to be sure), you should also consider a daily supplement that will promote healthy and hydrated cells. Collagen, Vitamin E, and Resveratrol are excellent places to start.

Dry skin is not the only skin type that requires extra moisture — it is entirely possible to have oily skin that is dehydrated. In your 30s, your skin really starts to require an extra couple steps to retain moisture as collagen and elastin production starts to dip. Incorporating a hyaluronic acid serum or an antioxidant-rich oil will be essential in keeping your skin properly hydrated.

    2. Make Acids your BFF

There are few things as important as acids in skincare, and they’re also the hardest component to understand. Start simple, go slow, and see through the “purge” phase when the acids you’ve chosen might bring some underlying acne to the surface.
Ascorbic and L-ascorbic acid, otherwise known as Vitamin C, are best for daytime wear as they mostly act as antioxidants rather than exfoliators. A Vitamin-C serum is one of the purchases in your lineup where a splurge is necessary — these are highly concentrated ingredients and you want to ensure that the formulations keep them stable.
Glycolic and Lactic Acid are both Alpha-Hydroxy Acids that are ideal for nighttime use as they act as exfoliators and are best utilized while your skin undergoes its nightly regeneration. They also tend to pill and not layer well under makeup.

    3. See a Dermatologist

Your 30s are the turning point for your skin, and if you’ve never sat down for a professional assessment, now is most definitely the time. As your skin’s elastin and collagen production slows, you may begin to experience dryness and inflammation where you hadn’t before. This can be why some women in their 30s experience an increase of acne, sometimes for the first times in their lives.
You’ll need a dermatologist in order to obtain some of the most effective active ingredients available for the treatment of acne and fine lines, such as Tretinoin (Retin-A) and certain types of antibiotics. Even if acne isn’t the main concern, prescription strength retinol is the surest way to maintain a bright and youthful complexion as it promotes the production of collagen and strengthens the skin’s barrier.

    Obsess over SPF

Sun protection is never ever going to be superfluous — in fact, it only becomes more important as we get older. You already know better than to leave the house without your AM application of SPF, but you’d ideally be reapplying every 4 hours for adequate protection — not exactly an easy task when wearing makeup.

Skincare and makeup brands are wisening up to the necessity of over-the-makeup SPF application, and more touch-up suncare products are becoming available.

When you wear SPF 100, you’re more likely to think you’re invincible, and you never need to reapply it, and you never need to go in the shade, and you can stay out all day,. “Whereas when you just put SPF 30 on, you’re more likely to say, ‘Hey, I should still play it safe in the sun. I’m not invincible. In fact, I should reapply.A false sense of sun safety is an easy way to get unintended sun exposure and a nasty burn.

But there’s also quite a bit of confusion about what SPF means in the first place. For example, despite what many people believe to be true, SPF 30 is not twice as effective as 15. Instead, SPF 15 blocks 93 percent of the sun’s rays, while SPF 30 blocks 97 percent of the sun’s rays, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.Did you know that it’s illegal for sunscreen manufacturers to claim that their product is waterproof? That’s because there’s no such thing as waterproof sunscreen. It’s also the reason you should always reapply once you leave the water, or if you’ve been sweating.
Another bogus claim: lotions work better than sprays. This one’s a little tricky. When used correctly, sprays, lotions, and oils all work equally well. On the other hand, people tend to miss spots when using sprays, so it’s a good idea to spray on two coats or to rely on a formula that you know how to apply correctly.
Dermatologists say you should pick out a product labeled “broad spectrum,” which means it protects against both UVA rays, which can cause wrinkles and sunspots and UVB rays, which burn your skin. Both UVA and UVB rays contribute to skin cancer over time.
Your sunscreen should also have an SPF of 30 or greater and should be water-resistant for 40 or 80 minutes of activity (again, reapply once you leave the water).
It is quite clear now that sunscreens play a major role in protecting people from the ravages of skin cancer, “Even if you chose to avoid certain ingredients, there is a sunscreen for you out there, so use it.”
And of course, sunscreen is just one of the many ways you should be protecting your skin from damage. For optimum protection, you should also:
    • Actively stay out of the sun during peak hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
    • Seek shade when possible.
    • Wear sun-protective clothing.
    • Protect easily forgotten areas (scalp, ears, eyelids, lips and tops of feet).
Another bogus claim: lotions work better than sprays. This one’s a little tricky. When used correctly, sprays, lotions and oils all work equally well. On the other hand, people tend to miss spots when using sprays, so it’s a good idea to spray on two coats or to rely on a formula that you know how to apply correctly.

I love all things makeup related but when it came to skincare I still wasn't there. But thankfully through trial and error, along with a drive for clearer skin, I found my way and my skin is all the happier for it. Below are just a few of the skin care lessons I've learnt over the years that come with better skincare knowledge. I hope if you too are looking for brighter, healthier skin you can learn from these skincare tips!

I'm sure we are all in agreement that face wipes really should never be called makeup wipes because they simply don't remove makeup all that well, especially before bed. But just in case we aren't, let me tell you how much my skin improved when I started ditching them more & more. Of course, I can't talk for all skin types but anyone with blemish-prone skin really should avoid face wipes for makeup removal at all costs, Because even a single night of sleeping with makeup residue on the skin can cause spots, both whiteheads and under the skin nasties, to appear overnight. Once getting to grips with using a cream cleanser to remove makeup and seeing it as the most important step in your skincare routine there should be no looking back. Starting off with a simple cream cleanser, but if you want to take it a step further, especially for blemish-prone skin types, double cleansing really will make skin truly happy.

For me, this was the start of a long road of weekly abrasive scrubbing at my skin with the thought that if I scrubbed hard enough maybe it removes all pores and blackheads in sight. Alas, it didn't but what years of over exfoliating with the harsh exfoliating product did do is leave me with teeny tiny broken veins on my nose and cheeks. Thankfully in the pursuit of better skin I've now found chemical exfoliants which gently dissolve dead skin cells without any damage to the skin. My favourite way is to apply a liquid exfoliating toner at night after cleansing to reap the rewards in the morning.

For the longest time, I truly believed my oily skin required very little moisture if any at all! I must have picked up this notion in my teenage years, most likely from basic beauty columns, as I strongly believed it. This, of course, led to a flaky base for foundation, an uncomfortable tight feeling in my face at times and generally lacklustre looking skin for my age. When I did eventually try out any kind of face cream I went way too heavy with products that would just sit on the surface of the skin and cause blemishes and an even oilier T-zone.

Every bride wants to have a beautiful skin before her wedding. Taking care of lips is again a very important aspect and shouldn't be ignored. We all want to flaunt pink and soft lips .

A lot of us suffer from dark and pigmented lips so here are 3 amazing remedies to get rid of that !

#1: ALMOND OIL : The properties and ingredients present in almond oil helps rejuvenate and smoothen the lips , Its sclerosant properties help to lighten the lips and reduce the pigmentation.
All you have to do is take a few drops of almond oil on your finger and gently massage your lips every night before you go to bed . Leave it over night .

#2 : HONEY + LEMON : This is a super amazing and perfect treatment for reducing the lip pigmentation and darkness . The citrus from the lemon removes the darkness and the honey gives amazing nourishment which help make the lips look gorgeous and pink .
Mix some lemon juice and honey and apply it generously all over your lips . Keep it for about an hour and then wipe off . You can easily do this at least twice a day !

#3 : BEETROOT : The betroot juice works really well to remove the darkness from the lips . It cleanses the lips and keep them looking soft and supple . All you have to do is take a slice of betroot and start scrubbing your lips with that slice for about 3-4 minutes and then let it be for a while . You can wash it after 20 minutes , Do this thrice a week !

It’s hard to keep up with your makeup in the summer, especially if it’s a scorcher…such as now! My theory is that when it gets too hot, makeup can go down a notch, and all you have to do is keep it simple! But of course a lot of us just can’t resist putting on a little blush and foundation because let’s face it no one wants to look all blotchy and uneven. So how can you prevent makeup meltdown during the summer?

    HOW TO PREVENT MAKEUP MELTDOWN

For a fast fix, you can use an oil blotter to absorb the sweat where it shows without wrecking your makeup. This will ensure that all excess oil is absorbed and will hold you off for a while. Try not to dab too much as it can obviously remove your makeup after a while.
To prevent makeup meltdown from happening, rub on makeup primer as your skin lotion. It’ll smooth any creases on your face, and gel formulas will cool your skin on contact considerably, giving you a cool, fresh feeling when rubbed on. And of course this will wick away an oil you might have on.
The next step is to make your foundation work a little harder than it’s used to! The new whipped formulas go on super light but last all day, without settling into your pores and making you break out. Top it off with a light dusting powder that absorbs perspiration.

Here are 3 super awesome tips that you can totally follow and make your foundation look seamless!
    • Your main focus should be using foundation more so on spots where more coverage is needed, like around the nose and eyes. Then, blend by dabbing and not rubbing with a Beauty blender to make your foundation look flawless.By applying five dots of foundation—one each on your cheeks, forehead, chin, and neck—and distributing outward in circular motions using a foundation brush will give you a flawless result.

    • To achieve a glowy look, start with your skin-care routine.  You could use a face oil before you prime the skin, and then  follow with foundation. After applying foundation, spray a skin-soothing mist onto the large, flat side of a damp Beauty blender and press it into your skin all over to diffuse the look of 'makeup' and give you a very natural, hydrated complexion.

    • Instead of using setting powder for shine control touch-ups throughout the day, use blotting papers to avoid looking like you have too much makeup on.Rather than reapplying in the afternoon, try freshening up makeup throughout the day with a spritz of tone

Yesterday, Ranbir and Mahira's viral pic were trending. The duo were chilling in New York streets and were comfortable in each other's company.  In an Interview with Hindustan Times, Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor opens up on the viral pictures and said," I only saw them on Twitter, not on Instagram or Facebook, because I am only on Twitter. It’s not that I saw these pictures before or I know anything about this already. You see, Ranbir is a young star, he is unmarried, he’s a bachelor. He can meet anybody whoever he wants to, and if people are going to invade in his privacy, it’s not done. And I can’t say anything about all this because he’s a young man and he has the choice of meeting any girl.”

He further added,"How do we know that here’s something more to this picture? He could have met her just outside there. They must have been in a restaurant or a place where they cannot smoke, that’s why they are smoking outside. In US, they have really strict rules that don’t allow smoking in public places. I can’t say anything more because I don’t know anything more than that.”
