Kajal, my only eye staple makes me want to share today's post with you all!!! The Big Question here is which kajal is better to use, the Maybelline Colossal or the Kareena Kapoor endorsed Lakme Eyeconic kajal??

I have been using both to be able to write an honest review for it, and to make this review to the point comes my comparison chart for you all.

Let Guiltybytes sum it up for you with a very first eye experience, the Maybelline Colossal kajal doesnt't break easily, priced lower offers longer staying power and is less pigmented that prevents kohl from smudging too much in your eye, but as they say, views expressed are subjective, so the next time you go kohl shopping, hope you remember the Big comparison chart :)

Because my family is hosting a Sunday brunch on our beautiful house ka terrace this November, i have been trying recipes and recipes to make the perfect sip for the day! After incessant trials and flavor testing, i have come up with fabulous- Strawberry Basil Lemonade that will make you drool by simply looking at the glass full of freshness.

Simple steps, easy ingredients and not to forget a proud mommy post all the hard work ;)

(Serves 4)

8 strawberries, quartered

6 basil leaves, (you can use mint leaves also)

2 apple, diced

3 tablespoons sugar

1/4 cup lemonade (orange juice would work too)

1/4 cup Soda water

ice

sparkling water (optional)

*Adult ingredient- Vodka/White Wine

In a lukewarm water, add strawberry, basil and sugar and don't stir the the contents. As soon as it cools down, add it the mixture in a pretty looking cocktail glass

We all love the little extra thing done in our drinks right?! so my lovelies, slice a strawberry and insert a basil leaf (just like the picture on left) for a beautiful garnish

Cut the apples, any which way, i prefer dicing them! 

The last step is to add lemon juice, the soda water in the mixture of strawberry,basil, sugar,apples and not to forget lots of crushed ice and what you will actually get is the picture below-

Beautiful, isn't it?!

Well in case you want to make this drink a bit more adult friendly, then add a nice dash of vodka or white wine to get the drink cracking. 

Now I cant wait to hear what the guests have to say for my 'sip' this Sunday!  :)

So do you have quiet a few bottles of nail paint? and looking for the right nail shade always creates confusion? 
Now try the Do-It-Yorself Nail Shade box and make everything organized in few simple steps given below in the picture :)

Step 1- Get a large box, use a shoe box, they are handy and have good space

Step 2- Get some stick on's and paint each stick on with the nail shade. Once it dries, use a puncher to take out small circles of that particular nail shade

Step 3- Stick each small punched sheet of nail shade (the circular part of the stick on) on the tip of the nail paint bottle. This will help in color reference without causing much confusion in the near future

Step 4- If you want to add some zinc to the boz, cover it up with a nice sheet of gift wrapping paper and once you are done with the shoe box, place all nail shade bottles into it and ta-da you now have a  much organized DIY nail paint box!

Oh I am in the army now! Heavy duty utility pieces in khaki and olive make up a distinguished urban uniform that commands the season's attention. Military jackets comes back around every few seasons but this time it's here to stay - toughen up your look with structured jackets such as brass-buttoned with a peplum, or a re-imagined parka with black leather sleeves. So i went to Zara the other day and i knew what i wanted as soon as i saw this camouflage jacket, here is my take on how to wear a military jacket without having to look like a soldier :p 

 So here i am smiling away to glory, wearing the mighty military jacket from Zara. To sport a playful look, i am wearing a little black dress underneath the jacket and black strapped shoes. To add glam to the look is the tangerine bag and the plum lip shade!

So what i love about the jacket the most are the silver studs on the pocket that add the right amount of chicness to the camouflage. It was a dream to have the perfect fitted jacket, not that i didn't try my fathers uniform jackets, but this was wroth being #lovestruck :)

Ready for the new color trend of 2013? Every year, Pantone announces a new color and this year it's all about Emerald which replaces last year's tangerine tango. What I love about this colour in peculiar is that it represents a very strong sense of being when used in Fashion, and it represents harmony and liveliness when used in home interiors and decor!

Just like black, Emerald too has the capacity of being universal colour. What according to Guiltybytes gooes the best with Emerald is Gold colour. It makes it look glamorous and yet very feminine at the same time. Before you see more of this colour, here is an insight on different between shades of green for you-

It's inauguration time and it's a shout out to all the brides...! In this post I bring to the most important, rather a very handy final checklist for your reference.

It's your final showdown and I know you are already through with your bridal trousseau but like everybody else you must have not got yourself some of THE most important things. In case you have, then a huge applause for you, in case you haven't then don't be disheartened, relax, take a deep breath and scroll down for 5 most essential things my dear bride-to-be!

Bridal Vanity Kit

Along with a good quality foundation, carry a primer rich in vitamins that will allow you to hide all wrinkles, scars and under eye darkness. Smudge proof eyeliner and eye shadow, face powder and lipstick are a must haves. But the most important things to carry in the vanity kit are wet wipes and make up remover ( I use the makeup remover from MAC, works really well) and a toner!

Nude Lingerie 

Of all the fancy lingeries you have got for yourself if you forgot to collect the nude shade lingerie then wait no more and Shop for one! Dear Bride underneath any white garment, DO NOT wear a white lingerie, instead wear a NUDE one. Nude is the new neutral. As far as the underpants are concerned, nude works very well under tight clothes-no seams, no worries! If you don't have the time to shop, indulge in some online purchases from Zivame

Small Sewing Kit

What if the new skimpy blouse you wore with a beautiful Benarsi saree just made a sound of a tearing cloth? As our mommy's always said, better be safe than being sorry, so lovelies, get yourself a basic sewing kit comprising of scissors, some needles, threads in basic colors and measuring tape. It's always good to have a durable kit that you can carry where ever, whenever. Make sure you get one for yourself.

Hair Dryer

Many of you have already invested in a hair straightener, don't panic seeing this picture. For those who haven't please get a blow dryer for your hair. It's easy to use, makes your hair look naturally sorted after a wash and works best for last minute guest arrivals at home type of situations. I use the one from Philips and It works pretty well on my hair!

Extra Earring Backs

The most tragic situation for any girl is loosing on to an earring's back! (In my case it's more like a crisis) In order to avoid last minute blunders, carry super additional pair of earring backs with you in your vanity kit. Every-time you purchase jewelry, ask for extra earring backs. 

Additionally carry extra safety pins too, you never know when you will need them :)

I know that January is practically over, but I wanted to let all my beautiful readers know about my current 100 Day Challenge!  

2012 has been a very memorable year of my life, from graduation to job to meeting my childhood friend to a promotion, to making this blog a biggie, i had it all. In between i have been shopping for everything possible and picking it up whatever i like with a single pulse (the price tags are never my things you see), and hence making my wardrobe, a dream wardrobe (Proud Smiles). So as i was saying, with 2013 sinking in and everyone around me asking me about my New Year resolutions, i thought alot like ALOT! and here i am bringing my New Year resolution which is more like a Challenge- THE 100 DAY SHOPPING BAN (sympathies invited). 

I am a huge believer in setting ambitious goals. Who cares if sometimes they are a bit crazy, right? Not that i m broke or that i am jobless, it's about time i want to prove to my own-self that i don't need everything possible especially during the sales hour.

Besides, isn't it better to do savings and have a control on shopping urges (which also includes shoe love). A hundred days, wont be that easy (sigh) but nevertheless i have faith that after the end of 100 day Ban, i am going to be a much responsible Shopper with a fat bank balance (cant wait to see my mom's smile on this). One city I have been smitten with, since long, for very obvious reasons is Chicago! Some call it city of lights while others call it dream city, I wonder what would it would be like to stand on one of the skylines in Chicago, with a heavenly view of the world and munching the much acclaimed Chicago hot dog!
Since I am a hard core foodie or should I say Punjabi, I bring to all you lovely readers another easy breezy recipe- the low calorie, Chicago inspired Hot Dogs.

Here comes the healthy recipe from Guilty Byte's secret Kitchen;

To start with, you need-
6 split hot dog buns,  3 table spoons melted unsalted butter, 6 chicken sausages, dilli pickles/pickles, wedge cut tomatoes, mustard sauce, relish for filling, poppy seeds, small white onion (finely chopped), peppers, celery salt to taste

To make the hot dogs-
Brush outsides of buns with butter, sprinkle poppy seeds, bake slip sides down for about 5 minutes (until warm). Warm hot dogs in boiling water for 5 minutes and then transfer to buns. Arrange dilli pickles spear on 1 side of each hot dog (if you cant find dili pickles then put in small vinegar'd pickles) and 2 tomato wedges on other side. Squirt yellow mustard over each and add a dollop of relish. Add onions and sprinkle with celery salt.

Since it's weekend tomorrow, indulge in some culinary antics and get the flavors from Chi-town rolling! :)

 All that you need- Denim shorts, Sewing needles/Head Pins, Lace, scissors and threads

Step 1- Cut a triangular seem on the shorts

Step 2- Sew the Lace on the cut seem area or hold the lace using head pins

Step 3- Ta-da, iron the denim shorts and much comfortable shorts are ready to be used!

*just one thing to note here is that, depending on the tightness of the shorts on the legs, cut the seam portion, in case the shorts are extremely tight and difficult for the legs to breathe then keep the seam cut broad, as per your convenience!

It's the time of the year again, the time when the towns are painted red, when you can sport loves walking all around like never before and the time when that one person in every couple is going crazy planning an evening full of romance for their respective better halves!
It's my second favorite month of the year (the first one being December) when I want to celebrate this day called VALENTINE'S DAY. Looking for an outfit for a perfect day can be tricky right? But here I am with my day look for the D day, which is very much me. This look is all about getting the basics right with the very basic colours- Black and White.
I love wearing dresses, to parties essentially but on this day I'd like to be me- the causal girl with messy hair clad in a biker jacket in her favorite color- the Olive green!

The look is simple and very much wearable, all you have to do is pick Basic B/W, Biker jacket, frills, and your master bedroom size handbag and then get going!

So the nicest thing to note is that I am very much observing my Shopping Ban, you can read all about it  Here. So the clothes you are seeing in the post are from the existing wardrobe (superbly proud), and the look is simple yet chic, and very much me! The jacket remains my favorite for all the obvious reasons. Dear followers be experimental with Black and White and yes they can be worn together, buy ANYONE!

Picking a photographer can be a tricky task. Unlike most things on your list of to-do’s, selecting a photographer requires much faith. It’s not like selecting a menu or a cake designer where you can rely on your senses to carry you through. Picking the right person requires a lot of research because let’s face it, you won’t know what you’re going to get until you see the final product!

Some questions you need to ask yourself before you zero down on a photographer-

• What do you want out of the day? 
•  Do you want someone who will shoot more in a documentary style, capturing moments as they happen?
• A family portrait is more important or a shot that captures the magical moment of you two in a particular light? 

Depending on how you answer these questions, you’ll probably come up with a style of photography you want for your special day.

Next, is to sort out a budget. Now that you have a style in mind, you can do your research and see who fits the bill. Compare packages and see what’s included. Does the photographer come with a second shooter? How many hours does it include and what are the fees for any extras? Also consider how long it takes for you to get your prints or digital copies back

You always want to know the post production details. Can you get prints or albums made on your own or will you need to buy the rights? Pay very close attention to the contract terms relating to post productions and retaining of rights. So once the cost and other research is done, next thing you need to know is if you want a pre-wedding shoot from the same guys you are hiring for your wedding, or the best, discuss a package that includes a pre wedding shoot, capturing moments of the couple in outdoor locations that also describes your love best.

So the weekend has arrived and there isn't anything more relaxing than putting on a pair of sweatpants on a Saturday! But have you every thought or put in the effort of looking absolutely stylish in your gym bottoms? Since staying comfortable is no reason to sacrifice your fashion sense, follow some easy steps for looking great in sweatpants.

Styling Tips

• Choose a flattering cut. Opt for sweatpant styles that feature low rises, boot-cut or flared legs and trimmer silhouettes
• Stick to solid colors. Sweatpants with words written across the rear end are a style no-no

A weekend without baking, yes you heard me right, especially after my regular baking antics on DamnSweet Bakers, I chose to go in for a simple, fresh afternoon pudding- The Banoffee Pie :) 
It's simple, very delicious but more importantly, anyone can cook it at home. Okay one catch here is that this pudding is my version of the regular banoffee pie, so if your are looking for a yummilicious and easy to follow recipe, then refer to this one!

Ingredients-
2 packs gulcose biscuits (choose from any brand, I used Parle G)
1/2 cup cream
25 gms melted butter 
1 cup granulated sugar
1-2 Banana
Cake crumbs (optional)
1 Tsp Vanilla Essence
1 dark chocolate bar

Step 1-

In a mixer, grind the biscuits and add melted butter in it. Once the mixture is pasty and moist, with your hand put the mixture in a pie dish and spread it properly. After you have spread the mixture, place the pie dish in a pre-heated oven and bake it for 10 minutes in 130 degrees Celsius.

Step 2-

Once the mixture is baked, take the pie dish out and let it cool for ten minutes. Now add cut pieces of Banana and cake crumbs (optional), i added vanilla plain cake that i had baked the other day, you can add any flavor if you want or simply add more bananas in-case you don't have cake at all and spread it properly. 

Step 3-

Now we need to make the yummy, glazy caramel mixture. In a pan add one cup granulated white sugar and let it melt on a low beam. Once the sugar is melted, add 1/4th cup water to it and mix well. Your caramel syrup should look golden brown or orangish golden. Please note don't cook the caramel syrup for too long or else it will have a burnt flavour. 

Step 4-

Pour the glazy caramel mixture over the cake crumbs and banana and let it set. 

Step 5-

Step 5 is culmination of 2 steps. Firstly take the cream, add vanilla essence in it and whisk it properly till light and fluffy. In-case you like more sweet, add some powdered sugar to the fluffy cream. Then take a spoon and add the cream over the glazy caramel syrup. This is next layer after the caramel syrup. and then grate some dark chocolate over the fluffy cream layer.

Step 6-

Step 6 is to set the banoffee pie in the fridge for good 2-3 hours till the pie is strong enough to come out of the pie dish. OK so while you push the pie slowly to come out from the dish, make sure you do this very gently, because you don't want to break the crust, and then ta-da, serve cold with additional caramel syrup or choco syrup!
